A drop of water
which falls into a great ocean will neither be
exhausted nor cease to exist until the end of
the universe.
Likewise, a virtuous root dedicated toward
attaining enlightenment
will neither be exhausted nor cease to exist
until you reach perfect enlightenment.

2009 Kagyu Monlam Preparation

Under the Direction of the 17th
Gyalwang Karmapa
Since
the beginning of the Monlam at Bodhgaya, India,
there have been a number of people who have taken
responsibility for its preparations. Due to the
kindness of Pal Gyalwang Karmapa presiding over the
Monlam, it has grown in size and has become immense.
Hence, it was necessary to institute a system for
proper discipline and organization, including
designating those with specific responsibilities in
order to ensure the smooth operation of the Monlam.
According to the wishes of His Holiness, a meeting
was held in Varanasi from November 27th – 29th,
2006. Subsequently, he instituted three main groups
to oversee the preparation and operation of the
Monlam: Dharma Group, Support Group and Service
Group. The three main groups are currently supported
by some other teams and there are designated
leaders and deputies for each team.
